In India, the following persons are eligible to apply for copyright registration:
- Authors or creators of the work
- Legal heirs of the author or creator
- Publishers or legal representatives of the author or creator
- Assignees or licensees of the work, provided that the author is not an employee in a work-for-hire situation.
In case of joint authorship, all the authors must sign the application form.
In case of posthumous works, the legal heir or representative must sign the form.
